Alan has been in the lending industry for his entire adult life since graduating from business college with an associate's degree in Accounting. The accounting background was helpful but he most enjoyed the interaction with clients and taking on the role of problem solver. Alan takes great pride in helping buyers get into a new home and finds it personally rewarding to see satisfied customers that return time and again. He attends all of his closings to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, from initial application to the closing process. Alan is licensed in Indiana and Michigan and specializes in helping first time homebuyers and those wanting to purchase a second home or lake property.
Alan became familiar with Ruoff Home Mortgage when working on the wholesale side of the lending business in the mid-1990's and knew they had an excellent reputation within the industry. When he saw the team they were putting together for the Michiana area, he couldn't resist the opportunity to get involved. He has been very impressed with the attitudes of every single Ruoff employee and the lengths they go to in order to meet client's expectations and closing commitments. Alan grew up in Syracuse, Indiana but has lived in the Michiana community since 1982. He and his wife of 28 years, Lisa, live in Edwardsburg, Michigan. They have a son, Kyle, who lives in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area with his wife, Carrie. They have been blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and a grandson.
Outside of the office, Alan enjoys golf and boating. He currently serves on a committe supporting the Edwardsburg Sports Complex. Over the years, he has been involved in many community projects including United Way, where he was a unit and division chair; the Exchange Club of Mishawaka; member of the Edwardsburg Lions Club; and trustee and member of the finance committee of his church. Alan has served as Past President for the Northern Indiana Chapter of the Mortgage Brokers Association, Past Chairman of the Homebuilders Association of St. Joseph Valley Showcase, and belongs to the Greater South Bend-Mishawaka Association of Realtors, Inc. as an affiliate member.
